Obituary for Elizabeth Payne
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the sudden passing of Elizabeth (Bette) Payne of Sandringham on May 20th, 2023, at the age of 67 years.
Bette was a loving wife, devoted mother and a proud grandmother. She was an active member of the community, always there to lend a helping hand. She enjoyed her morning chats with her special friends and her home was always open for a cup of tea.
She was predeceased by her parents Harvey & Daisy Oldford (Holloway), brother Eugene Oldford, in laws Cyril and Ida Janes (Payne), brother in law Roger Janes.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Robert; daughters Chantelle Abbott (Cory) of Gander, Stacy Payne (Jeff Downey) of Gander and her grandchildren Cameron Abbott and Allie Downey, who were Nanny’s treasures. Also leaving to mourn, her sisters Elaine Oldford, and Greta Fennell (Len), sister in law Donna Chaffey (Clayton), Margaret Harmon (Max), Kathleen Stroud (Barry), brothers in law David Janes (Phyllis), Gordon Janes (Pat), Albert Janes (Josephine), Norman Janes (Deann), John Janes (Kelly). Bette will be greatly missed by a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and dear friends.
A special thank you to Keith and Sherri, Delaneys Ambulance and the ER staff at James Paton for the care and support they provided at such a difficult time. Your compassion and kindness will not be forgotten.
Public Visitation will take place on Tuesday May 23, 2023 at Oram's Funeral Home Eastport from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
Funeral service will be held at Church of the Resurrection Sandringham on Wednesday May 24, 2023 at 2 pm, with interment to follow at Anglican Cemetery Sandringham.
