Obituary for Mary Carroll
Mary Carroll (nee Feltham) passed peacefully away at age 97 on February 16, 2023, with her son and family by her side.
She was predeceased by her husband Joe, his son David, and her parents Charles and Alice Feltham, as well as her 7 brothers and 6 sisters in law.
Leaving to mourn her son Larry (Thelma), and their daughters Stacy (Marc Cutler), and Bethany (Derek McDonald) and their 3 children Ben, Lucy, and Ella. Also, her sister Olive Perry, and her sister-in-law Grace Feltham.
Mary is also survived by a loving stepfamily. Stepdaughter Jo-Ann (Gary Sooley), Heather Carroll, and stepdaughter in law Linda Carroll, as well as grandchildren Richard Carroll, Joe Carroll (Stephanie), Jennifer (Stephen Rimmer), Jeffrey Sooley (Pam), Sarah (Jessie Davis), Jeremy Danielson, and 11 great grandchildren.
Mary was a career woman, excelling in every position that she held, but the job that she loved the most was teaching. She loved to learn and teach others to love to learn. She relaxed with classical music and loved the symphony, both as a patron and as a member of the Newfoundland Symphony Choir. She also loved to travel and spent 3 summers teaching in Africa. She travelled the world, often alone until she met her husband late in life, and they had 29 wonderful years together during which time they travelled extensively. They were both avid gardeners and her 3 great grandchildren still love to play in the gardens in Culls Harbour that they created.
Visitation will take place at Oram’s Funeral Home in Glovertown on Sunday, February 26, from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 7:00 – 9:00pm.
The funeral will be held at Glovertown Central United Church on Monday, February 27, at 2:00pm.
