Obituary for Joan Pearl Bradley (Ralph)

Joan Pearl Bradley (nee Ralph) passed peacefully away at her home in Eastport on February 6, 2023, at the age of 99 years. She was born in Glovertown to the late Mildred and Edmund Ralph on May 25, 1923.

Left with fond and loving memories are: her children, Allan (Joy), David, Pearce (Marg), and Betty Ann (Tony); her grandchildren, Allayne, Jonathan, Kenneth, Jeff, Ginny, Robert, Richard, Ryan, Amanda and Leanne;, and her great-grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Jack, Evan, Teddy, Sami, Emily, Liam, Maisie, Jena, Allyson, Keyanna and Landon. She is predeceased by: her husband, Rayfield; her sisters, Doris (Colin) and Marguerite (Clar); and her daughter-in-law, Irma.

Joan was best described as a very kind and gentle person, always with a positive attitude and approach to anything she encountered. She was very devoted to her family and was always concerned for their well-being and their whereabouts. Joan loved all children and always embraced every opportunity to be around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid knitter and loved to shop.
She thoroughly enjoyed attending concerts and other events with family members and friends. During the last 14 years, these activities and events were multiple and were often shared with her sister and nieces.
She loved gathering with friends and loved ones, especially when there was music and food, not to mention the very important game of cards! Before Ray’s death in 2001, she enjoyed extensive international travel, as well as visits from friends far and wide.

The family sincerely appreciates the help provided by the multiple health services offered by Central Health, especially their Continuing and Palliative Care Programs, as well as the Home Dementia Program.
However, it was her personal home care workers who provided her the opportunity to live happily and independently in Eastport for approximately 14 years, and we are very grateful for their care and support.
A special thank you is extended to her nieces, Cynthia and Eleanor, who cared for her lovingly and extensively over many years. As the recipient of all of these services, love and care, Mom was able to experience a great quality of life where she was always able to achieve maximum independence.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Oram’s Funeral Home in Eastport.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Holy Cross Anglican Church on Saturday, June 10th, 2023. at 2 p.m., followed by a social gathering at The Royal Canadian Legion after the interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Donations in Joan’s memory can be made to the Central East Health Foundation https://cnehf.nl.ca/donate/ or to Holy Cross Church in Eastport. Please advise Holy Cross if you DO NOT want your name released to the next of kin.
