Obituary for Nellie Lila Oram

Passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord at Lakeside Home, Gander, on January 3, 2023, Nellie Lila Oram, age 92.

She is predeceased by her parents, Annie and Jacob Fifield; loving husband of 70 years, Henry; baby boy, Daren; daughter, Beverly; and siblings, Fannie, Annabella (Queen), Edgar, Mabel, Jane, Alwyn, and Emerson.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are six sons, Emerson (Rose), Eric (Linda), Colin, Vaden (Michelle), Delmer (Norma), Sheldon (Lisa), and one sister, Marie (Colin). Also mourning are 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 21 great great-grandchildren, and a large circle of extended family and friends.

Nellie was born in Wesleyville at the Brookfield hospital February 4th, 1930. In the spring of 1934, Annie and Jacob moved with their children to Saunders Cove, Glovertown. At age 15, Nellie moved to St. John’s and worked in housekeeping at the Grace General Hospital. That same year she moved back to Glovertown and met the love of her life, Henry Oram. They married on December 5th, 1946 and had 8 children in the years that followed. Nellie devoted her life to her family and sharing the love of Jesus with everyone she met. She and Henry became members of the Pentecostal church in 1950 where they served many years as Sunday school teachers and faithful attenders.

Nellie’s legacy lives on in the many hearts that she has touched throughout her life. She had an extraordinary influence on her family and friends and will be lovingly remembered for generations to come.

Visitation will be held at Oram’s Funeral Home, Glovertown on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 7-9pm; Thursday, January 5, 2023 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023 at 1:30pm at Full Gospel Tabernacle, Glovertown with interment to follow at the Pentecostal cemetery.
