Obituary for Edna Mae Dean

Mae was the youngest child born to Alice & Laurier Smart, Saunders Cove, on May 30th,1934. At the age
of 11 she experienced the loss of her Mom. Being the youngest she was loved and protected by her
older siblings. She really enjoyed the great outdoors especially ice skating on the Bay (apparently all 3
Smart girls were great skaters).
During her late teen years she worked at keeping house, hospital kitchen and store clerk in St. John's
and Corner Brook.

At the age of 22 she married Maxwell Davis at Deer Lake, NL and lived in Corner Brook for Two years. They moved to Glovertown and raised their 6 children, Lorraine (Rodney), Myra (Leonard) , Lorne
(Cheryl), Weldon (Lori), Karen and Jill (Gary), 9 Grandchildren, Gregory, Bradley, Michelle (Jason), Karla
(Jay), Jared, Benjamin, Joshua, Ashley and Brittany as well as her 4 Great Grandchildren Logan, Luke, Jack and Emma.

In 1994 Mae was deeply saddened when Max passed away due to illness but 2 years later she got
remarried to Luke Dean (Port Aux Basque). They had 4 years together. Mae started her spiritual journey in her late teens and stayed strong in the faith, until God called her home. She raised her family, taking them to Sunday School and Church. Her faith was unmovable and her trust in God was a great witness to those who knew her.

Mae passed peacefully away April 27th, 2021 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander ,NL.
She is predeceased by her Husbands Maxwell Davis and Luke Dean, Parents Alice and Larry Smart,
Brothers Samuel (Joyce), Lloyd (Jeanette), Sisters Ida (Melvin), Evelyn (Martin Jr).
