Yvonne, Pauline, Calvin, and Rick alongside with respective family: Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Josie. The friendship with the Button family extends back to the academic year 1962-63 when my mother taught at the United Church school in Hare Bay. As a child I heard my mother tell of the friendship and hospitality she received while stayed in Hare Bay from the Button family. I remember the first time I visited their house at the age of 12 in the summer of 1981 along with my mother and brother . Josie ever the gracious host put out a smorgasbord of outport goodies such homemade bread, bottled rabbit, bottled moose, molasses buns, tea buns, partridge berry pie, cheddar cheese, etc. Needless to say, my brother and I feverishly devoured those tasty treats to my mother’s shame. When mother scolded us, Josie interrupted “Pearl leave those boys alone.” Mother wanted to ‘trim’ both of us. But that was one ‘trimming’ that was worth getting considering the feed we had. Josie’s kindness that day deeply affected me. Later in life I moved to Hare Bay and developed my friendship with both Josie and Bill. I enjoyed helping Bill with the firewood and slabs along the conversations about their heritage of Silver Fox Island. Then there was the odd political conversation which being a Tory I had to respect my close Liberal friends. Josie Rest In Peace as you rock in rocking next to Bill. I regret not being able to attend the viewing due to work commitments. Please be assured that the Button family is in my thoughts.

Deepest Sympathies,
