Obituary for Joyce Pike

Joyce Pike was loved and adored by all who knew her, especially for her quick wit and sense of humour. She passed away peacefully on January 30, 2021 at the age of 98. She was predeceased by her husband Harry, who I’m sure will be happy to see her again, her brother Al, sister May and her daughter-in-law Doreen. Forever remembered by her four children: Vince, Al (Suzanne), Christine and Barry (Brad); her grandchildren Shawn (Tammy), Greg (Heather), Meghan (Keith), Aaron (Kim), Kristin (Ryan), Alex (Colleen), Carmen (George), Nicole (Kevin); and great grandchildren.

Joyce was born on Coward’s Island, Bonavista Bay, where she spent the better part of her young adult life. She married Harry in 1942 and lived on North Island until relocating to Glovertown in 1953. She soon became involved with the United Church Women’s group and spent many years as an active member of the UCW. Through the years she acquired numerous friends who always played such a big part in her life. They will always be remembered.

An extended thank you goes out to all the residents and staff of Clarenville Retirement Home where she spent her last years. Please know that “Nannie Barbie” loved you all very much and spoke highly of each and everyone of you.

As most of you know, Joyce loved flowers of all varieties and always welcomed a bouquet on any occasion. In her memory, should you so choose, plant a flower somewhere close to you so you can always remember her and the love she had for her garden. Any donations will graciously be accepted by Faith United Church in Glovertown.

A private service is to be held at Oram’s Funeral Home and followed by an internment, next to the love of her life, in the United Church Cemetery in Glovertown.

Please feel free to post an online message on her Memory Wall at Oram's FuneralHomes.com The family would enjoy reading about your fond memories of our mother.
