Obituary for Neta Bride (Oram) Collins
On September 3rd, we said our final goodbyes to our beloved mother. She passed away peacefully at home, according to her wishes, and was surrounded by her family until the end.
Neta was born on July 23, 1942 on Bragg’s Island, a place that she held dear in her heart and was able to visit in her final weeks of life. She lived there with her parents Eli and Annie, and her brothers and sisters David, Melissa, Sally, Beatrice, Calvin, Jordan and Ivy. She moved to Gambo for her teenage years until the day a young and handsome Stephen Collins stole her heart. They built a life together in Glovertown, where they raised their 3 children and watched their family grow and grow. Mom treated every new member of the family like her own. She welcomed her children’s and grandchildren’s spouses into her home and her heart. She was an amazing wife and mother, but this paled in comparison to her most dedicated role as a grandmother.
Our mother was a spoiler. She poured gifts of candy, cookies, money for lunches, and unconditional love over her 7 grandchildren and her 4 great grandchildren. They felt her love every minute of every day.
As she goes to be at peace with the angels, she leaves behind an incredible legacy. She will be loved and desperately missed by her husband of 60 years, Stephen, her grandchildren Angela (Tony), Danielle (Les), Ashley (Liam), Brittany (Richard), Silas, Alex and Lauren, her great grandchildren, Bradin, Jada, Grayson, and Hunter, and, of course, her 3 children.
Rest in peace dear Mother and shine as bright as the brightest star in the sky.

We will be hosting a day of visitation outside our parents home at 1 Campbell place, Glovertown, on Sunday, September 6th starting at noon. Please feel free to stop by and help us celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman.
Due to the current distancing restrictions, a private funeral will be held at Glovertown Faith United Church on Tuesday, September 8th. Expressions of sympathy may be made by charitable donation in Neta’s memory to Pancreatic Cancer Canada.
