Obituary for David Gordon Murley

Passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019, David Gordon Murley, 81, in Gander, NL.

Dave was born on October 23, 1937 in Corner Brook, NL and is predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Ada (Parsons) Murley. He spent many years in Wabush, NL while employed by Wabush Mines and was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 57. Life took him to Faro, Yukon for a number of years where he was employed by Curragh Resources. Later he returned to Labrador City where he worked at the Iron Ore Company of Canada. Retirement was to be in beautiful Sandringham, NL where he was active with the Town Council.

Dave is survived by his son, Brad Murley (Michelle); daughter, Gail Hodge (Rodger); grandchildren, Shelley and Justin; brother, Jim (Dianne); his children's mother, Eileen; brother-in-law, Roy Tavenor (Peggy); sisters-in-law, Blanche Saunders (Wilson); Florence Newman (Tony); Sandra Anstey (Tom); Judy Loomer (Bruce); and Debbie Denny (Wayne); many nieces and nephews and many, many friends, in particular, Dorothy Burke. Special thank you to the staff of Oram's Retirement Home in Glovertown, NL and the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander, NL.

At Dave's request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place and his remains will be interred at the Anglican cemetery in Eastport, NL with a graveside service on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 11:00 am.
