Condolence: I am so saddened to hear the news of your mom's passing. She was such a beautiful person. Frank loved and respected her so much. On my last visit to St. Brendan's she treated me like royalty. I will never forget how welcome she made me feel. The only trip I made after Frank's death. I speak about it often to my family . She has left behind an amazing family. She will be remembered with fondness and greatly missed. May she rest in eternal peace.

Condolence From: Gladys Brown
Condolence: I grew up thinking a beautiful relationship was normal. Loretta and mom were role models for a sister relationship, although not biological sisters. Phones calls back and forth to each other each and every day. Keeping track of our families, the local events and most importantly being there for each other. Loretta was an integral part of our family. I can still hear the laughter reverberating around the kitchen as mom and dad, and Loretta and Maurice played a game of cards on Saturday night. Over the years our family has been influenced and shaped by Loretta. You will be forever missed! Gladys Brown

Condolence From: John Murphy
Condolence: The first time I met Loretta Kelly we were all a lot younger and we were having a bit of a “time” in her kitchen during Christmas. Loretta sat in her rocking chair and she and Maurice listened as I recited “The Ballad of Salvation Bill” by Robert Service. From that very first interaction, I have always appreciated her genuine hospitality, the beauty of her positive aura and the ability to make a stranger feel welcomed. God Bless you Loretta, you are missed. John Murphy

Condolence: We were truly sorry to hear of Loretta's passing. We offer our sincere condolences to each member of the Kelly Family. Visiting St Brendan's won't be the same for us. A visit to your mom and Paddy was a highlight of our trip, and we never missed seeing them when we were on. St Brendan's. Walking into the kitchen and seeing your mom In the rocking chair will always be with us. We truly enjoyed talking with your mom and, of course, listening to Patty's stories. Your mom was one of a kind and there are few people who were as kind and gentle as she was. She left behind a family that she can be truly proud of. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Condolence From: Les O'Reilly
Condolence: Good Morning, Deeply saddened to hear about your Mom's passing. She was a gentle and pleasant Mom. She made your house a "home" made it a place of warmth, happiness and comfort, and no doubt you all have many memories that will give each of you and your families years of happy stories which will be celebrated, shared and be a legacy for them. I always enjoyed visiting your home as I grew up in the community and as I returned to visit over the years. She was welcoming and patient. I can appreciate how painful these days will be and the absence and vacancy you will feel with her loss. Her everyday example though and how she modeled the way will give you renewed strength to build on her caring and legacy of love and compassion. I want to express to Paddy a personal note of sympathy since I know how close he was to her and how much she meant to him. I know you will miss her so much and will draw on the strengths, words and thoughts she shared with you EVERY DAY. You have great inner fortitude and I know you have great support from your family and the community. The great love she showed you and your deep faith will make you strong. Deepest sympathy, Les

Condolence: Sorry to hear about your mom .. Had a good little visit with her last week talking about the pope's visit to Quidi Vidi! And eyeing her yummy rubarb-cherry pie. Learned much about my uncles/aunt from her and your dad over the years. Had my first cod cheeks at her friendly, welcoming kitchen table.. she chuckled at my thought of how they were like KFC! Appreciated the jigs dinners she sent my way down the road. Her rocking chair remains occupied with fond memories!

Condolence From: Kim Beresford
Condolence: Harold and the Kelly family, I am so saddened to have heard of your mothers passing. I met your mother back in July 2013 in St.Brendans for the first time as I was told by my father Michael Beresford to visit her when I got to the island. So of coarse I did so. My dad went to school with her and they were great friends. When I arrived to her home she greeted me as if she had known me all my life. She shared a bunch of stories of her childhood in St. Brendans which included my dad as well. My dad got to go back to the island a week later with me and my brother and he got to visit her after 15 years. What a nice visit they had together and such great stories they shared with us. She was a great women. Treasure all your memories of her and keep them close to your heart. God bless you all and you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Kim Beresford
